A unicellular diatom, belonging to the Bacillariophyta (Phylum), Phaeodactylaceae (Family), with the unique capability of shape transformation (fusiform, tricornutum or Oval). Cell size ranges from 5 to 12 µm.This microalgae is rich in various pigments such as chlorophyll-a, c1,c2, α, β-carotene, Fucoxanthin, Neofucoxanthin and Diadinoxanthin and is a good source of vitamins.
